When people left the 34th annual Huntsville Classic on Saturday, May 20, they left with more than a Martina McBride song stuck in their head – they left knowing they were part of Huntsville Hospital Foundation’s largest and most successful fundraiser ever.

The record-breaking event will fully fund a new $1.7 million dual-source cardiac CT scanner for not-for-profit Huntsville Hospital Heart Center. The equipment will help heart patients from across North Alabama, reducing patient diagnostic wait times from two months to an anticipated two weeks.

More than 4,600 people attended the Martina McBride benefit concert at The Orion Amphitheater. Prior to the gates opening, 1,400 VIP sponsor guests enjoyed an exclusive menu from Cotton Row and drinks as a thank-you for their support. Top sponsors for the night included “Certified Diamond Partners” IronMountain Solutions, Torch Technologies, and the Wicks Family Foundation, and “Center Stage Partner” Thompson Gray.

“Our business community and generous individuals supported this cause and event at unprecedented levels, which is a testament to the need and importance of exceptional cardiac care,” said HHF President Sarah Savage-Jones.

“This was one of the biggest fundraisers Huntsville has ever seen, and it was led by our Classic Chairmen Hank Isenberg and Bill Roark,” Savage-Jones said. “Both men have experienced the lifesaving care of Huntsville Hospital and chose to give back in an incredible way through Huntsville Classic. We are blown away by the success of the night, and honored to be able to fully fund this high-tech equipment to save more lives at the Heart Center.”

The fundraiser also featured the presentation of HHF’s traditional Classic green blazer to Isenberg and Roark, and an opening performance from local band Junctional Rhythm.
