Director of Strategic Initiatives

Linda serves as the Foundation’s first Director of Strategic Initiatives, supporting the strategic planning process for the Foundation, evaluating tactical opportunities, and directing performance metrics and benchmarking processes.   

Throughout her career, Linda has enjoyed working in a variety of business industries and organizational structures, including healthcare, communications, non-profits and start-ups.  She holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Central Florida and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business from Calvin College.

Highlights of Linda’s prior experience include new business assessment for the National Office of the American Automobile Association (AAA), product development for Siemens Stromberg-Carlson, development director for Free-2-Teach, a Huntsville non-profit, and partner in Acair, LLC, a family contingency planning service. She has served extensively in community volunteer positions, from chairing school fundraisers to co-chairing her church’s building program. 

Born and raised in Holland, Michigan, Linda, her husband and two young sons moved to Huntsville in 2002 after over a decade in Orlando, Florida.

Ashley Freeman, Physician Relations Manager, manages all hospital physician giving programs and efforts, works with a portion of the Foundation’s major donors, and oversees Emerald Society, a women’s giving circle in support of Madison Hospital.

Before joining the Foundation team in February 2019, Ashley worked as the first community relations and events manager for Kendra Scott in Huntsville. She also previously worked as a sales professional for Tom James Company in Birmingham.

Born and raised in Jasper, Ala., Ashley graduated from The University of Alabama where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing with a specialization in Professional Sales. She is also a graduate of Leadership Huntsville Connect Class C-23.

In her free time, Ashley loves to spend time with her husband and dog, traveling, and exploring new local establishments in Huntsville.

Director of Corporate Relations/Events

Cheryl Geiger serves as the Foundation’s Director of Corporate Relations. In this role, she oversees corporate relations, the State of the Hospital annual board meeting and the Foundation’s Corporate Wellness program.

Before coming to Huntsville Hospital Foundation in 2017, Cheryl worked for five years as a logistics and marketing manager at ITT labs. She attended the University of Alabama and the University of Alabama in Huntsville where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Design with a minor in English.

As a Huntsville native, Cheryl has always enjoyed giving back to our community. She is a graduate of Leadership Huntsville Focus Class 41 and of Leadership Huntsville Flagship Class 36. Throughout the years she has volunteered her time as a member of the Junior League of Huntsville and of the Early Works Society. She has volunteered for many other non-profit groups such as, Grounds for Hope, Crush Wine Festival, NOMA and Manna House.

In her free time, Cheryl enjoys traveling, baking, and spending time with her husband and their three children.

Sarah serves as the fifth Huntsville Hospital Foundation president. She was born in Nashville, Tenn., and raised in Dothan, Ala. Her career has spanned banking, health care and entrepreneurship. After graduating from Auburn University with a BA in Public Relations/Speech Communications, she worked for SouthTrust Bank, Crestwood Medical Center and Leadership Huntsville/Madison County, where she served as its president/CEO for 19 years. After retiring from Leadership due to care needs for her family, she and a partner started Acair, LLC, a family contingency planning service. She also began serving as managing member of the Henderson Family, LLC, her family’s small timber/hunting business in south Alabama, after her father developed dementia, and she continues to serve in that capacity.

She has served on about 20 boards and committees throughout her career and as a board officer or chair for the Rotary Club of Huntsville, national Association of Leadership Programs (ALP), the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville, and Public Relations Council of Alabama (PRCA). Much of her volunteer work has been around diversity and inclusion initiatives, including Alabama Citizens for Constitutional Reform, and service on the charter committee of a local Diversity and Inclusion symposium.

She is a graduate of Momentum Huntsville Class 1, Leadership Huntsville/Madison County Class 11 and Management Academy Class 1, and Leadership Alabama Class XXIV. Her awards include: Momentum “Woman of Impact” (2022); Patricia Haley Charity Humanitarian of the Year Award (2021); ALP Leadership Lifetime Legacy Award (2017); Rotary Club of Huntsville Vocational Excellence Award (2011); WEDC Foundation’s “Women Honoring Women” Award (2007); PRCA Practitioner of the Year (2000); and the Alabama Institute of Banking Instructor of the Year (1994/1995).

She is married to Stephen Jones, and she has three daughters, Jessica and Charlotte Savage, and Hope Jones, and two dogs.

Donor Relations Director

Anna Blocker Smith, Donor Relations Director, manages donor recruitment and relationships, strategic fundraising efforts, and the Donor Relations team. She also oversees the Foundation’s Development Council and manages the Melissa George Neonatal Memorial Fund.

Anna is a graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration Management. With 10 years of nonprofit experience both on university campuses and with volunteers at Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities, she is passionate about connecting a philanthropic community to health care initiatives that will make a difference in the lives of those in our community.

Anna is involved in the Huntsville community through the Rotaract Club of Huntsville, Leadership Huntsville Connect Class 21 and USTA. On a beautiful afternoon, you will often find Anna on the tennis court or enjoying a delicious cheese board with friends.
