The 5th annual Swim for Melissa: A Record Breaking Year!

To say that the 5th annual Swim for Melissa was a success is an understatement. The support from all of the volunteers, swimmers, families and businesses throughout the region (and across the country!) helped make the 2010 event the most successful yet! Overall, more than $165,000 was raised for the Melissa George Neonatal Memorial Fund at Huntsville Hospital Foundation which will help to provide the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children with a family support program as well as two Giraffe Incubators and a Giraffe Omnibed.

A record 625 guests enjoyed the Miracle Bash held on August 13. It was an evening of excitement and fun that included the perfect ingredients for a night to remember: complimentary “Miracletinis,” a delicious dinner, mouth-watering Gigi’s cupcakes, live and silent auctions and to top it off, music by the Tyrone Smith Revue.

The next day, at Swim for Melissa, 212 swimmers beat the heat by participating in a non-competitive swim and enjoyed a day of fun with their families that included face painting, swimming, “moon bounce” and more.
