Rotary Gala to benefit Huntsville Hospital

We are pleased to announce that the 2010 Rotary Club of Greater Huntsville “Americans in Paris” Gala will benefit the Pediatric Audiology Fund at Huntsville Hospital Foundation.

The Gala is the annual major fundraiser for the Rotary Club. It has become one of the community’s signature events, and the 2010 event celebrates its 10th anniversary. Join us on February 20th in the VBC North Hall for cocktails, dinner, dancing, a silent auction, a casino and special Parisian entertainment by the Huntsville Community Chorus.

Havoc’s Melissa George Night Game: A Winning Success!

The Havoc’s 2010 “Melissa George Night” was a game to remember! The exciting night began when fans brought hundreds of items and monetary donations for Huntsville Hospital’s Neonatal ICU (NICU) in exchange for a Havoc-themed retro lunch box. Then, the Havoc took the ice in special jerseys bearing the footprints of babies who were patients in the NICU, and went on to win against the Mississippi Surge, 3-2. The event topped off with a live auction for the players’ special jerseys, which along with a silent auction held for the team’s pink warm-up sticks, brought in more than $38,000 for Melissa’s fund. Proceeds from both auctions will be used to purchase a Giraffe Warmer for the NICU. A special thank you to the Huntsville Havoc and all who came to the game in support of Melissa’s Fund and the NICU!

"The Farm in Jones Valley” benefits hospital patients

Huntsville Hospital Foundation would like to send a special thank you to local author Raymond B. Jones, Sr. and Barnes & Noble in Jones Valley. Mr. Jones introduced his first book, “The Farm in Jones Valley,” at a special signing at Barnes & Noble on December 20. A portion of the book sales proceeds will benefit the Betty Jones Memorial Heart Fund, in memory of Mr. Jones' mother. In addition, Barnes & Noble has generously donated a portion of proceeds from all sales on December 20 to provide cds, dvds, and books for patients to enjoy during their hospital stay.

There is no finer or more appropriate gift than one that offers help and hope to others

Cardiologist Dr. Warren Strickland is the first to utilize Intracardiac Ultrasound technology in north Alabama.

Alabama ranks fourth in the nation for cardiovascular disease, and we live in the middle of what the National Institutes of Health deems the “stroke belt.” That is why it is more important than ever for Huntsville Hospital Foundation to provide an Intracardiac Ultrasound (ICUS) for Huntsville Hospital’s Cardiac Catheterization Lab. The ICUS allows the hospital’s cardiologists to treat Patent Foramen Ovale, a heart defect, also known as a “hole in the heart” in a minimally invasive way – without open heart surgery. That means fewer risks and shorter recovery time for patients.

To help the Foundation fund the ICUS, please visit www.onlinelifeline.org. You can even make your donation in honor or in memory of a loved one, and the Foundation will send the honoree a letter notifying them of your generous gift. Thank you for your support!
